How to cook with a photo step by step
To prepare the dough for the cake, beat one egg into a deep bowl and add fine sugar. Add a spoonful of hot water and beat with a whisk or mixer.
Then pour kefir and beat again with a whisk until smooth.
Next, add 1 tsp of soda and cocoa. Gently start stirring.
Since cocoa is very difficult to combine with the cold mixture, add flour in parts and mix.
The finished chocolate dough will turn out to be of medium density, not liquid and not thick.
Cover the bottom of the baking dish with parchment, and sprinkle the sides with flour or grease with butter. Pour the dough into the mold and bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Baking times may vary depending on your oven. Check the readiness of the cake with a toothpick.

They say it's like a favorite treat son of King Edward III of England and Queen Philippa was precisely the Black Prince cake, the recipe of which has come down to our days from English chefs.
It is hard to believe that the first persons of the world aristocracy satisfied their culinary whims with such elementary sweets.
But, based on their taste, as well as the fact of the existence of a young prince, confirmed by historians, who was dubbed black for dark armor, it may well be.
Although more credible is the version that the romantic combination "black prince" confectioners appropriated to each new masterpiece. Perhaps that is why the Black Prince has so many variations of the cake recipe in cooking.
At first, it seemed to me that cocoa powder was present in all varieties of this dessert. But soon I found improvisations from jam on the Internet, as well as variations for those who exclude flour, eggs and even kefir from their diet.
Before preparing the Black Prince cake, I carefully studied all the proposed options and settled on the classic one. Its production can be conditionally divided into four stages: dough kneading; bakery products; preparation of filling and cream; cake assembly.
To make the biscuit perfect, the eggs must be fresh and clean, the flour must be sifted and always of the highest grade. Make sure that the sugar dissolves well during the preparation of the dough.
Stage 1 Ingredients:

Then we combine the contents of both bowls (egg and kefir mass), mix thoroughly and pour lemon juice into it. We interfere again.
At the end of the first stage of preparing the Black Prince cake on kefir, gradually add flour to the resulting mixture, while stirring the mass.
The second stage is baking cakes. To do this, carefully transfer the prepared dough to prepared baking sheets (forms) and put in a preheated oven for 40 minutes.
Baked products should be set aside to cool. In the meantime, we proceed to the third stage.
Cream recipe for the Black Prince cake
Step 3 Ingredients:
- sour cream- 300 g (preferably with a high percentage of fat content);
- sugar- 200 g;
- butter- 100 g.
Grind the butter in a separate bowl, pour sour cream into it and add sugar. With a mixer, I bring everything to a homogeneous mass.
The filling for the Black Prince cake according to the classic recipe is usually made from berries. As for my taste, pitted cherries are better for this purpose. In the season I use fresh ones, but in the absence of a freeze, I get by. Children like options with strawberries, raspberries.
The last step is perhaps the most important. To assemble all our blanks, you first need to carefully cut the cooled cakes in half in a horizontal direction with a sharp knife.
There are times when in the oven the middle of the cake begins to burn, and the edges are still raw, or a hump grows in the middle. You can correct these defects with the help of water, which is poured into empty baking sheets and placed in the oven at the same time as the cake. In this way, the temperature is regulated, preventing the formation of burns.
Then on each part at the bottom I remove a little crumb. I do this so that the resulting recesses are densely filled with stuffing.
I generously smear the berries with cream on top and set the cake aside for 15 minutes for impregnation. I do this with every part.
And then I spread the finished cakes on top of each other. I place the remaining crumb on top and pour plenty of cream over everything, including the sides of the Black Prince cake, as shown in the photo.

To decorate your masterpiece, you can come up with different options. I improvise every time to surprise my kids. Most of all, children like it when I pour melted chocolate on top and make a thin web of sour cream.
But if there is no time and desire to mess with it, you can get by with a simplified version of berries or thickly sprinkle the cream with coconut flakes, creating an airy effect. For guests, you can use chopped jelly cubes as a decoration, of course, from the same berries as the filling of the Black Prince homemade cake.

Ingredients:
- 200 g flour;
- 3 tbsp cocoa;
- 20 ml cream;

A well-mixed mass of dough must be distributed over the form, having previously covered it with baking paper. The oven must be preheated. The time until the biscuit is completely baked will be 30 minutes.
In the meantime, you can do the cream. This time, butter will be used in the preparation of the cream, this will give it a more delicate and melting taste. The butter must be softened, and then beat it with cream and granulated sugar until stable peaks.
Cooked cakes should be cut into two parts using a sharp knife and spatula, and then smeared with cream properly. The main thing is not to forget about the side parts of the cake, which are easier to spread with a pastry brush. So, you can send dessert to the refrigerator for a couple of hours until it is soaked. You can decorate the "Black Prince" when serving with the help of currant berries, if any.

Another variation of the preparation of this pastry involves the use of sour cream at the base of the dough. To bake such a cake, you need to prepare the following ingredients:
- Sour cream (30%) - 250 g for dough + 200 g for cream;
